Altar Server Ministry

are interested in becoming an Altar Server.

Altar Servers at Immaculate Conception are chosen from among the faithful who display the desire to participate in an intimate way during the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Some of the responsibilities of an Altar Server are to assist in carrying the processional candles, the Roman Missal for the Celebrant Priest and assist the Priest in other functions during the Mass. Serving as an Altar Server is an extreme privilege as they kneel so close to the altar as our loving Savior, Jesus Christ, becomes truly present in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity upon the altar.

Altar Servers Eligibility & Requirements:

Boys and Girls who have made their First Communion and are in 3rd grade and up are eligible and encouraged to become an Altar Server. 

Interested young people will attend a server training session.  Training continues as new servers "shadow" veteran servers - a type of "on the job" training.  This allows new servers to learn the various altar serving duties while building their confidence on the altar. 

Benefits:

• Serving on the altar brings your child very close to the Lord Jesus. Many parents have said that once their child starts serving, they better understand and appreciate the Mass.

• Becoming an altar server is a beautiful way for your child to actively participate in the faith life of Immaculate Conception.
